Independence Rock @ HRC mumbai elims

Hi,

So we managed to play the I-Rock Elims @ HRC on the 28th. Man oh man, talk about a great day!

We started out pretty early in the morning and reached N.O.C. @ bajaao in andheri for a quick rehearsal... post which we left for Lower Parel in the Depth Mobile (Vishals car). After reaching the venue and the customary tip of hats to the bands that were there already and events people we decided to find a bar since the performances would be only after 9.30 pm and the soundchecks were only an hour later. After walking around for 30 mins we finally found a watering hole (really tough place to find a regular bar btw) and promptly proceeded to getting high and into the celebratory mood we enjoy. 1 hr later naveen was calling and we had to be back at the venue for our soundcheck, which we managed somehow.

Aftertaste kicked off things with a DJ to boot. They were tight as usual and kicked ass! played mostly OC's and ended with a cover of Incubus.

The Works
came on next and played an Hour of tight, crowd pleasing covers and a few OC's. Awesome chops by both guitarist especially Shannon although I loved the pure joy tone of Partho's Gibson!

After waiting for what seemed like an eternity Depth got onstage and were immediately blasted by screams and whelps of joy from our corner below the stage (love u guys!) I was nervous as hell and only settled down after the second song. "Must Drink' as suspected went down really well with the everyone at the bar! :)

Manefus
from baroda came on last, played a lot of covers. I really enjoyed their OC 'Home'. I've been listening to it a lot on the independence rock webpage (http://www.independencerock.in/bands/manefus.php).

No one from the first day made it thro to the finals, eventually 'Black' went through from bombay. Had my fingers crossed for the black guys...lol. But the competition was eventually won by pune classic rockers 'Silver'.

Thats all for now... beer time.
